Pyburn News 3/24/14

Because of case 21 testing we will have the same weekly words and vocabulary words as last week. Tomorrow we will be doing the math portion of the case 21 testing. I am so proud of the work that our students did today on the reading part. Please be sure your student has a great breakfast and it's at school on time tomorrow. And math we will continue to work on fractions and have a small math quiz on Friday. In reading we will be looking at cause-and-effect and the point of view of the author.
Ms. Hill came into class twice last week and talk to us about cause-and-effect clue words. Be sure to ask your student to give you an example of what these mean. They definitely should be able to tell you about it :)

Math notes 3/24/14

Fraction model and fraction number line from wcpss. We did this example as a whole class and with our partners and decided that chocolate bar A and chocolate bar B are equivalent. 3/24/14
With out partners we completed each scenario using fraction models and number lines. They should be stapled on top of your students math homework tonight.
This is the answer to scenario 1 that we did together. The fraction model and the fraction  number line should be equivalent for three out of four of the scenarios.

Oh goodness... I hope this doesn't change our spring break. I'll let you know as soon as I know!! Please stay safe and warm.

Your student still needs to work on their reading HW and reading log for Monday and Tuesday night. I'll be checking it tomorrow :)

Also please let your student work on a few of the reading, math, and/or EOG websites on the sidebar. Don't forget MULTIPLICATION FLASHCARDS or websites!!!!!!!!

Pyburn News 3/3/14

Please check your student's Monday folder for interim and/or tests to be corrected and signed. Corrected tests are not due untilThursday

The Reading Worksheet (that is due Friday) for this week can be part of your student's 25 minutes of reading. They need to reread the story every night before answering the questions.

There is no math HW Monday night.

Ask your student about our writing artist in residence (Ms. Wilde) that we will be working with for this week!!!

Our homework board on 3/3/14. This is a great example of what your student writes down every morning and is then checked by me. So please use their agenda as a great reference of what and when things are due :)
